چکیده

Scientific maintenance methodologies are specially needed to enhance system reliability and safety, reduce maintenance manpower, spares, and repair costs, eliminate scheduled inspections, and maximize lead time for maintenance and parts procurement. This paper systematically presents a comprehensive methodology and framework for aggressive inspection and condition based predictive maintenance of a shield tunnel consisting of prefabricated lining rings. The framework consists of six components: maintenance purposes, data, modeling and simulation, documentation, managerial schedule, and inspection/ maintenance behaviors. These components are interpreted in details as nine necessary parts in a predictive maintenance strategy. The failure mode and effect analysis approach is employed in developing a predictive maintenance strategy for a tunnel structure, with the purpose of prioritizing possible defects in the tunnel in order to facilitate the decision making on predictive maintenance. The system-level lifing analysis method is proposed for the proactive maintenance of the tunnel system. The method includes data preprocessing, risk model establishment, quantitative model validation, empirical lifing analysis, and system-level maintenance schedule. The empirical lifing analysis involves both risk prediction and damage accumulation models for service limit determination, system-level risk analysis, and systemlevel conditional risk for maintenance schedule. The proposed methodology is demonstrated with the inspection data collected for six typical defects observed in real-world shield tunnels. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Prediction of maximum surface settlement caused by earth pressure balance shield tunneling using random forest

Due to urbanization and population increase, need for metro tunnels, has been considerably increased in urban areas. Estimating the surface settlement caused by tunnel excavation is an important task especially where the tunnels are excavated in urban areas or beneath important structures. Many models have been established for this purpose by extracting the relationship between the settlement a...

Development of the safety control framework for shield tunneling in close proximity to the operational subway tunnels: case studies in mainland China

INTRODUCTION China's largest cities like Beijing and Shanghai have seen a sharp increase in subway network development as a result of the rapid urbanization in the last decade. The cities are still expanding their subway networks now, and many shield tunnels are being or will be constructed in close proximity to the existing operational subway tunnels. The execution plans for the new nearby shi...

Development and Application of a Product Model for Shield Tunnels

Building Information Modeling is a prevailing methodology in the building industry and half (by length) of the world's shield tunnels are in Japan. Accordingly, for shield tunnels from 2005 to 2007, we developed a product model called IFC-ShieldTunnel, which is based on Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), in order to meet the future demand for such a product model. IFC-ShieldTunnel was developed...

Use of a 10.22 m diameter EPB shield: a case study in Beijing subway construction

INTRODUCTION Beijing subway line 14 includes four stations and approximately 2.8 km of tunnels between the Dongfengbeiqiao and Jingshunlu areas of the city. Due to the surface and underground space limitations of this section, a double-track running tunnel instead of two single-track running tunnels was adopted to connect the two stations. The double-track tunnels were excavated by a 10.22 m di...

Cutterhead and Cutting Tools Configurations in Coarse Grain Soils

Received: November 30, 2016 Revised: February 13, 2017 Accepted: February 13, 2017 Abstract: Background: Many subway/metro tunnels were constructed using close face shield machines in coarse grain soils in last decades. Configurations of the shield cutterhead and cutting tools are critical in terms of cost and project duration. There are currently no recognized methodologies available for the c...
